On April 21, I had the pleasure of participating in the Engineering Cyber Café alongside Engineer Arabella Zapata Escobar, discussing earthquake risk and vulnerability in Colombia. Thank you to the organizers for the invitation and to Arabella for the insightful discussion. It was a great opportunity to share knowledge and promote awareness of seismic resilience.

On May 15, I had the privilege of serving as advisor to Juan Nicolás during the defense of his master’s thesis, which was recognized with the Distinguished Thesis Award 🏅. His work on the performance of stone-column-improved liquefiable soils considering clogging effects reflects more than two years of dedication and rigorous research. Congratulations to Juan Nicolás on this well-deserved achievement. I am proud to have been part of his academic journey.

I am pleased to share that Leandro Zapata presented our paper, “Parametric Analysis for the Assessment of Existing Bridge Foundations through Soil–Structure Interaction and Wave Propagation,” at the “XII National Conference on Earthquake Engineering (XII Congreso Nacional de Ingeniería Sísmica)”. This work explores the use of soil–structure interaction and wave propagation analyses for the assessment of existing bridge foundations, contributing to the monitoring and resilience of critical infrastructure. Congratulations to Leandro on an excellent presentation and to all co-authors for this collaborative achievement.
